This setup is for Access Point (AP), the device will act as router only, not gateway (WAN disabled).
Example of using AP is to extend WiFi capability for MikroTik RB750/750G gateway.

Hard reset the DD-WRT device, then enter default IP 192.168.1.1
You need to assign the router admin ID and password, enter anything you like.
I personally prefer Router admin: root password:<your choice>
Click on Administration, system will prompt you to login again.
Setup as follow:
- Info Site Password Protection = Enable
- Cron job = Disable
- Routing = Disable
Click "Save" follow by "Apply Settings" when done.
Setup --> Basic Setup tab
- WAN Connection Type = Disabled
- Assign a fixed IP to the device, eg. 192.168.1.5 (must be same subnet segment with the main gateway)
- Enter the gateway IP, eg. 192.168.1.1
- Disable DHCP
Click "Save" follow by "Apply Settings" when done.
Assign fixed IP to your computer, eg. 192.168.1.9 (must be same subnet segment with the gateway & router)
Enter the device's IP which you just assigned above, eg, 192.168.1.5
Go to Setup --> Advanced Routing tab, change the "Operation Mode = Router"
Click "Save" follow by "Apply Settings" when done.
Go to Services --> Services tab, disable DNSMasq, Telnet & ttraff Daemon
Click "Save" follow by "Apply Settings" when done.
Go to Security --> Firewall tab, setup steps as following screen.
Click "Save" follow by "Apply Settings" when done.
For wireless setup, I assumed only N and G devices, setup steps:
- Enter your preferred SSID, follow by the Network Mode, then click "Save"
- Select the Channel Width, the click "Save"
- Choose Wireless Channel & Control Channel, then click "Save" follow by "Apply Settings"
Note: Choose "Mixed" Network Mode if you have old device uses B
Click "Advanced Settings" and setup as follows:
- for ACK timing, I normally enter "1" for Atheros device if intend to disable it.
- for "Max Associated Clients", choose your own number.
Note: Disable "Short Preamble" if you have old B device
Click "Save" follow by "Apply Settings" when done

AP setup is completed!
Connect the device's LAN port to your gateway router's LAN port.
